Painted Skin is an AI-generated experimental short film adapted from “Painted Skin” in Pu Songling’s Strange Tales from a Chinese Studio. The film rewrites the story from a female perspective.

Continuing the xuan paper-inspired visual style of The Tale of the Peony, the work explores the combination of contemporary AI technologies with traditional Chinese aesthetics and cultural imagination.

Invited by Xiaohongshu, Jintao Sun and Yuqing Liu created the work for the Short Film Hot AI Training Camp. Circulating primarily on Douyin and Xiaohongshu, the work has received over 2 million views and 160,000 engagements across online platforms.
